Opt-in experience
How users provide SMS consent in SpendSavvy
Below is the opt-in form as it appears to users. SMS verification codes are only sent after the user checks the consent box and taps "Send code."
SpendSavvy
Verify your phone
Enter your number to receive a verification code
By tapping "Send code," you consent to receive a one-time SMS verification code. No marketing messages.
Opt-in mechanism
- Checkbox required — the "Send code" button is disabled until the user checks the consent box.
- Clear disclosure — the checkbox text states the purpose (verification codes), charges (msg & data rates), and opt-out instructions (STOP/HELP).
- Links to policies — SMS Terms and Privacy Policy are linked directly from the consent text.
- No pre-checked boxes — the checkbox starts unchecked; the user must actively opt in.
Use Case
SpendSavvy sends SMS messages strictly for one-time verification codes (OTP) used during login and account authentication, and for essential account notifications such as security alerts. We do not send marketing or promotional messages via SMS.
How You Opt In
When entering your phone number in the SpendSavvy app, you must check a consent checkbox that reads: "I agree to receive SMS verification codes from SpendSavvy. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help." The "Send code" button is disabled until the checkbox is checked. The interactive demo above shows this exact flow.
Message Frequency
Message frequency: only when you request a login or account verification code. You will not receive recurring or scheduled messages.
Charges
Msg & data rates may apply.
Opt-Out
Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages at any time. After opting out you will no longer receive verification codes via SMS; you can still log in using other methods.
